Observatory Park, also known as University Park, is a 200-acre arboretum located fifteen minutes southeast of Downtown Denver. It's mature tree-lined streets and historic homes coupled with its central location and access to public transportation, make this a popular neighborhood for all ages. Adjacent to Denver University, this neighborhood features a mix of historic homes, small Tudors, Denver squares, and Victorian homes, many of which have been renovated to accommodate larger families and open floor plans.
This neighborhood has two beautiful parks - Observatory Park which is packed with amenities and the historic Romanesque Chamberlin Observatory and Robert H. McWillams Park a smaller but picturesque park with plenty of fun playground equipment and shaded seating.
Located southeast of Downtown, the neighborhood is bordered by Colorado and University Boulevard and by East Evans Avenue and Yale.
School Information:
University Park's central location gives students a variety of some of the highest-rated academic programs in the Denver area.
University Park Elementary has received multiple awards and was ranked number 12 by the Denver Business Journal among all Denver Area elementary schools. UPark was the only DPS school, and only one of two schools on the list, to receive straight As in all indicators from DBJ.
St. Mary's Academy, rated as the #1 Catholic High School in Colorado, is an independent day school in the Loretto tradition located in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. Founded by the Sisters of Loretto in 1864, St. Mary's Academy educates boys and girls PK - 8th and 9- 12th grade all-girls school.

Kent Denver School, a highly rated private school with an 8:1 teacher to student ratio and 75 core courses and 119 additional electives for students to choose from, boast a 100% rate of students who matriculate to a four-year college.

The University of Denver has its own Light Rail stop (University of Denver) and is located on the EFH lines.
Additionally, multiple buses connect commuters to the University Park area with stops on both University blvd. and Evans ave.

Drive time to Downtown Denver: There are three direct routes from Observatory Park to Downtown Denver, averaging a 15-minute commute.
Biking to Downtown Denver is also popular with direct access to Cherry Creek and Platte River trails.
